Cerita ku Tentang Lagu The Edge Of Glory

The Edge Of Glory. yap! Pertama aku denger lagu ini di acara tv “Galeri Sepak Bola Indonesia”(kayaknya sih, aku lupa) dan seketika itu aku jatuh hati sama lagu ini. Penasaran aku sama lagu itu. Lagu siapa nih? Seperti biasa disamping kiri bawah kan pasti ada nama penyanyi & judul lagunya. Disitu tertulis “Lady Gaga – The Edge Of Glory”!  Wahh, langsung otakku ini bilang “DOWNLOAD!”.!

Malemnya aku baru inget  kalo mau download lagunya Lady Gaga. Ets, tapi waktu itu aku lupa judulnya, wahh bingung semua nih. Jadi deh malam itu batal nge-download lagu itu. Trus, beberapa hari kemudian aku tau lagu itu lagi, tapi aku lupa dimana. Lha langsung aja ku buka laptop, tancep modem buka http://www.4shared.com & download tuh lagu. Hmm.. Setelah menunggu sambil onlin e pesbuk, akhirnya selesai juga. Hahahaasek capsus cin dengerin tuh lagu. I’m on the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge, the edge. Apa itu Lagu The Edge Of Glory?

The Edge of Glory adalah lagu dari artis penyanyi dan penulis lagu asal Amerika yaitu Lady Gaga, diambil sebagai single ketiga dari album studio keduanya yang akan segera dirilis yaitu, Born This Way. Ditulis dan diproduseri oleh Gaga, Fernando Garibay dan DJ White Shadow, "The Edge of Glory" dirilis secara mendunia pada 9 Mei 2011 dan secara resmi US mainstream radio pada 17 Mei 2011 sebagai single promosi pertama dari dua single sebelum albumnya dirilis.

Setelah Born This Way dan single Judas yang menuai kontroversi, Lady Gaga telahg merilis single ketiganya, yang diambil dari album sama, Born This Way, berjudul "The Edge of Glory". Gaga memberitahukan single terbarunya ini melalu akun twitter resminya.

“Laguku, The Edge of Glory, akan dirilis besok lewat iTunes untuk memulai countdown peluncuran albumnya. Ingin tahu #TheEdgeSingleCover?       ”

Gaga menulis pernyataan tersebut pada Senin, 8 Mei 2011 dengan menyertakan sampul album dari single ini. Dalam sebuah wawancara dengan Google awal tahun ini, GaGa menyatakan bahwa single yang telah dirilisnya ini akan berbicara tentang saat terakhir hidup di bumi, saat kebenaran terungkap, saat kita akan meninggalkan hidup.

James Owen Sullivan a.k.a The Rev

James Owen Sullivan, (lahir 9 Februari 1981 – meninggal 28 Desember 2009 pada umur 28 tahun; lebih dikenal dengan nama The Rev atau The Reverend Tholomew Plague) adalah seorang drummer sekaligus penyanyi latar untuk grup musik Avenged Sevenfold. The Rev juga menjadi lead vocal pada grup musik Pinkly Smooth.

Karir The Rev

Ia memperoleh sepasang stik drum pada usia lima tahun, dan menerima drum sendiri pada usia ke sepuluh. Hanya dalam waktu satu tahun, dia sudah bermain "The Black Page" dengan mahasiswa dalam ansambel perkusi yang dilakukan oleh gurunya.

Di SMA, bergabung Avenged Sevenfold sebagai salah satu anggota pendiri band ini. Sullivan adalah drummer band ska band Suburban Legends. Pada usia delapan belas tahun dia merekam album pertama dengan Avenged Sevenfold berjudul "Sounding the Seventh Trumpet". Kemudian dalam hidupnya ia dipengaruhi oleh drumer Vinnie Paul, Mike Portnoy, dan Terry Bozzio. Dia bahkan memiliki pengaruh "visual", Tommy Lee, di mana ia berkomentar bahwa "Saya tidak menyangka akan memiliki salah satu dari mereka." Kemampuan Sullivan yang disebutnya "'The Double-ride' adalah suatu teknik yang dapat didengar pada lagu" Almost Easy "di mana dia bermain ganda sampai pada tempo cepat antara double bass dan cymbal naik. Kematian The Rev

Pada tanggal 28 Desember 2009 drummer James"The Rev"Sullivan ditemukan meninggal di rumahnya pada umur 28 tahun. Hasil otopsi tidak dapat disimpulkan. Namun tanggal 9 juni 2010 diumumkan bahwa penyebab kematiannya adalah keracunan akibat penggunaan piskotropika yang dicampur - campur, sering juga disebut polydrug use atau "cross fading". Dalam pernyataan dari anggota band lainnya, mereka turut berbela sungkawa atas meninggalnya The Rev dan meminta untuk menghormati privasi keluarganya:

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. Jimmy was not only one of the world's best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy's family and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time.

Website resmi Avenged Sevenfold menampilkan pesan dari keluarga Sullivan yang menyatakan terima kasih kepada penggemarnya atas dukungan mereka:

"We would like to thank all of Jimmy's fans for the heartfelt comments that have been posted – it is comforting to know that his genius and antics were appreciated and that he was loved so much. Our hearts are broken – he was much too young to fall. Óg agus saor go deo (forever young and free)"

Di samping itu komentar tentang kematian Sullivan, manajer band Larry Jacobson mengungkapkan bagaimana Sullivan adalah orang yang begitu baik terhadap semua orang. Jacobson berkata dalam wawancara itu:

He was expressive. He'd tell you how he felt about you -- you didn't wonder because he'd put his arm around you," he said. "He knew how to tell his friends he loved them.

Selain Jacobson ada 50 lebih artis musik yang mengomentari tentang kematian The Rev.

Pada tanggal 6 Januari 2010 jenazah di makamkan di lokasi yang dirahasiakan.

Tanggal 5 Januari 2010,majalah kerrang! menulis artikel tentang kematian The Rev.Zacky Vegeance menunjukan perasaan-nya tentang kematian The Rev

"Jimmy will always be with me in everything I do. Except sitting at home being sad, so today Im going to try to start living again. foREVer."

Selain Jacobson, lebih dari 50 seniman musik berkomentar atas kematian Sullivan. Kerrang! edisi 13 Januari 2010 menampilkan sebuah artikel tentang kematian dari The Rev, di mana fans dan bintang membayar upeti kepadanya. Bersamaan, Zacky Vengeance mengungkapkan perasaannya sendiri tentang kelulusan, yang menyatakan bahwa "Jimmy akan selalu dengan saya dalam segala hal aku lakukan Kecuali duduk di rumah selamanya menjadi sedih, sehingga hari ini aku akan mencoba untuk memulai hidup lagi..."

Nightmare didedikasikan Untuk The Rev

Pada tanggal 17 April 2010, sebuah pesan singkat dari Zacky Vengeance telah diposting di resmi Avenged Sevenfold Twitter: "Tracking selesai Tidak ada kata-kata yang pernah akan menggambarkan perasaan mendengarkan album ini saat mengemudi sendiri di rumah pada 4:00.." Single "Nightmare" dirilis secara digital pada tanggal 18 Mei 2010. Sebuah preview untuk lagu ini dirilis pada 6 Mei 2010 pada Amazon.com, namun dilepas segera setelah untuk alasan yang tidak diketahui.

Pada tanggal 12 Mei 2010, M. Shadows dan Synyster Gates mampir ke harddisk (acara radio) di mana mereka menjelaskan rincian tentang Nightmare sebelum rilis:

“              [...] The new album, Nightmare, is dedicated to The Rev memory and although it's not exactly a concept album, it does center around The Rev. The eeriest thing about it is there is a song on the album called "Fiction" (a nickname The Rev gave himself) which started out with the title "Death". And the song was the last song The Rev wrote for the album, and when he handed it in, he said, that’s it, that’s the last song for this record. And then 3 days later, he died. "         ”

Mixing untuk album tersebut sudah selesai di New York City, dan album ini akhirnya dirilis di seluruh dunia pada tanggal 27 Juli 2010. Album ini mendapat review positif dari kritikus musik tapi. Disambut baik oleh fans. Nightmare memulai debutnya di nomor satu di Billboard 200 dengan penjualan 163.000 unit di minggu pertama.
